JUNE TBR

Hi,

I haven’t done one of these in ages but because I am reading much more now , due to finishing school , I thought lets start the monthly TBR and wrap ups again 🙂

In June I plan to read 5 books : 2 new releases, 1 proof and 2 net-galley books! Here they are:

WONDERLAND BY JUNO DAWSON: Alice lives in a world of privilege and luxury – but none of it means anything when your own head plays tricks on your reality. When her troubled friend Bunny goes missing, Alice becomes obsessed with finding her. On the trail , Alice discovers a mysterious invitation to ‘Wonderland’: the party to end all parties. Will she find Bunny there? Or is this really a case of finding herself? Because Alice has secrets of her own, and ruthless socialite queen Paisley Hart is determined to uncover them, whatever it takes. Alice is all alone, miles from home, and now she has a new enemy who wants her head…

READ WITH PRIDE BY LUCY POWRIE : Olivia  is excited for her last year at secondary school. But when a parent complains about LGBTQ+ content in one of the books, the library implements a new policy for withdrawing books. Olivia is distraught – she’s demisexual and knows how important it is for all readers to see themselves represented. Luckily, she’s the mastermind behind The Paper & Hearts Society book club, and she knows exactly what to do: start a new club, find ways of evading the system, and change the policy for good! With two book clubs to run, exams to prepare for, and a girlfriend, just how long will it be before Olivia burns out? After all, creating a book club and trying to get the #ReadWithPride hashtag to get noticed is going to take a lot of energy.

FIRST DAY OF MY LIFE BY LISA WILLIAMSON: Three friends, a stolen baby and a tangled web of lies. Everything is about to change. First day of my life is not what you expect and its not who you suspect either. A baby has been stolen. But there are three sides to this story – three people bonded by friendship and torn apart by the unpredictability of life. Frankie, Jojo and Ram.

THE COST OF LIVING , DEAD STOCK & EXPIRY DATE BY RACHEL WARD: These are 3 books in an Ant and Bea mystery series. Expiry Date is coming out in June with a blurb saying : Bea’s favourite customer, Julie, hasn’t been seen for weeks. Her abusive husband, Dave, claims she’s left him but Bea can’t shake the feeling something worse has happened. When a body is found, it seems to confirm her fears – until it comes out that the corpse is fifteen years old. Where is Julie? Who is the dead girl? And what was her connection to Bea’s late father? Ant and Bea are back with their most personal case yet.

WHAT UNBREAKABLE LOOKS LIKE BY KATE MCLAUGHLIN : Lex was taken-trafficked-and now she’s Poppy. Kept in a hotel with other girls, her old life is a distant memory. But when the girls are rescued, she doesn’t quite know how to be Lex again. After she moves in with her aunt and uncle, for the first time in a long time, she knows what it is to feel truly safe. Except, she doesn’t trust it. Doesn’t trust her new home. Doesn’t trust her new friend. Doesn’t trust her new life. Instead she trusts what she shouldn’t because that’s what feels right. She doesn’t deserve good things. But when she is sexually assaulted by her so-called boyfriend and his friends, Lex is forced to reckon with what happened to her. She’s thrust into the limelight and realises she has the power to help others. But first she’ll have to confront the monsters of her past with the help of her family, friends, and a new love.
